Zerzevan Castle is a ruined Eastern Roman fortress rising above the Diyarbakır–Mardin road in the Çınar district. It once served as an important frontier military base.
Excavations have revealed underground structures, including a temple of Mithraism, the ancient mystery religion. The castle was also used as a civilian settlement from the 1890s to the 1960s.
